This is concerning. It looks like our Intelligence Agencies were caught off guard when it comes to China’s capabilities. They are supposedly just finding out now that China tested their hypersonic missile tech in August and were pretty successful.
“Two people in the know said the test showed how far China has progressed on hypersonic weaponry – farther that U.S. officials realized.”
“We have no idea how they did this,” one individual claimed.”
Taylor Fravel, an expert on Chinese nuclear weapons and professor at MIT, said it would be “destabilizing” if China fully developed and deployed such a weapon.
“Hypersonic glide vehicles…fly at lower trajectories and can maneuver in flight, which makes them hard to track and destroy,” Fravel said.”
“Admiral Philip Davidson, head of Indo-Pacific command, warned against an increasing “imbalance” in the region brought on by China’s rapid military advance.
“The military balance in the Indo-Pacific is becoming more unfavorable for the United States and our allies,” Davidson said. “With this imbalance, we are accumulating risk that may embolden China to unilaterally change the status quo before our forces may be able to deliver an effective response.”
“Former Director of National Intelligence (DNI) John Ratcliffe warned earlier this year that the Biden administration was in for a shock once they were finally brought up to speed on the advancements that the Chinese military has made in recent years.
Ratcliffe said that “China has closed the gap” in certain areas which he could not reveal because “it poses a national security threat to acknowledge that, but there are places where China’s frankly doing a better job, and it’s further down the curve on some technology issues than we are, and that’s never been the case before.”
China is trying to become the world power so we need to keep ahead of them when it comes to military ability. Supposedly we have similar capabilities when it comes to hypersonic weapons, except our is more accurate as of right now. But as Ratcliffe claims, they are quickly catching up.
