It’s been two years since Joe Biden took office and the migrant situation at the U.S.-Mexico border continues to worsen. Recently, President Biden made a puzzling visit to the border, choosing to avoid direct contact with the migrants and instead only meeting with local officials and nongovernmental organizations. Fox News’ Neil Cavuto even questioned Democratic Texas Rep. Vicente Gonzalez on why Biden didn’t meet with any migrants.
Gonzalez responded that Biden “knows what the migrants look like” and that seeing them wouldn’t help solve the crisis. This was met with criticism from both the public and Gonzalez himself. It’s clear that the visit was done for show without any real intention of addressing the issue head on.
President Biden’s refusal to actually witness the crisis firsthand is concerning and speaks volumes about his commitment to solving the border crisis. With the situation only getting worse, it’s time for Biden to take a real approach to the crisis and actually see the migrants and the conditions they are living in. Otherwise, he will continue to be criticized for not putting his words into action.
John Martin, Director for the Opportunity Center for the Homeless, told the Daily Caller News Foundation he was disappointed Biden didn’t see the crisis first hand. The White House later released a statement saying Biden “visited the busiest port of entry” and met with local officials, but it was too little too late.
It’s time for Biden to take responsibility for the migrant crisis and actually witness the conditions himself. Seeing the migrants and their situation would help him have a better understanding of the issue and help him create a solution. He must be willing to put in the effort and work to solve the problem, and not just talk about it.
Now that the GOP has captured the House we had better see some real changes in the immigration system. Voters are pissed and fed up with do-nothing politicians.
