While I would never accuse the Washington Post of hiring the classiest individuals, it takes a special kind of stupid to tell a former president of the United States and the former director of the Central Intelligence Agency to “shut up”. Especially when you’re just a columnist and they’re speaking on matters they understand from their own first-hand experiences.
For obvious reasons the former CIA director, Mike Pompeo, and President Trump have criticized Biden’s failed withdrawal but according to WaPo columnist, Max Boot, they can just ‘shut up’.
“We really redefine chutzpah for Donald Trump, and Mike Pompeo and Mike Pence to suddenly be claiming that they’re outraged by the horrors of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan because they’re the ones who set this in motion”, Boots began.
Boots was speaking with Joe Scarborough when he failed to mention that the Trump administration left a detailed exit plan in place that Biden scrapped back in June.
“They set this in motion, and they have no right, no standing whatsoever right now, to criticize what is happening,” he continued. Boots studdered his way through the next bit saying, “And, you know, badly as it’s been going, and it’s improving a little bit, but it’s been, obviously, a very badly bungled execution. But I don’t think anybody who watched the incompetence of the Trump administration over four years could possibly imagine that Donald Trump would have handled this any better.”
Boots and Scarborough both asserted that the only ones who can dare criticize Biden are the Republicans who didn’t support Trump.
Boot added that “people like Trump and Pompeo just need to find a good opportunity right now to just shut up and stop criticizing something that they set in motion.”
Call me crazy, but I just don’t think Boots and Scarborough are qualified to determine who is allowed to criticize Biden. I certainly don’t think these two understand the gravity of what Biden has done. By abandoning countless Americans and allies to the Taliban. Biden has created the larges potential hostage situation in history.
