An Idaho teacher is facing an investigation after making controversial comments on Facebook about President-elect Donald Trump’s victory. According to screenshots, the teacher, identified as Lori Dixon Lombard, allegedly targeted a local man and wished an “unwanted pregnancy” on his daughter.
The Pocatello-Chubbuck School District has issued a statement, stating that the teacher’s comments have been forwarded for review. While the district acknowledges the importance of free speech, they also emphasize the responsibility of educators as role models. The social media posts may violate district guidelines and could lead to disciplinary action.
The controversy began when Dixon Lombard expressed her frustration over Trump’s win on social media. In her posts, she allegedly attacked a local man, saying, “I hope your mistress or daughter have an unwanted pregnancy” and calling him “pathetic looking.” The teacher also criticized the man for lashing out at her, saying he couldn’t get a woman or have children unless he forced himself on someone. These insensitive comments have sparked outrage, prompting the district to investigate the matter.
The district’s statement addresses the ongoing investigation, but also stresses the importance of maintaining a positive and respectful environment for all. While employees have the right to exercise their freedom of speech, they must also adhere to district policies and guidelines. According to the district, inappropriate posts on social media can be grounds for disciplinary action. It remains to be seen if Dixon Lombard’s comments violated any policies.

According to district policy, employees can speak out on matters of public concern, but their speech should not disrupt the workplace or involve personal or private matters. It is not clear yet if Dixon Lombard’s comments fall under the protection of the First Amendment or if they cross the line into inappropriate and unprofessional behavior.
What a WILD situation. It doesn’t pay to act deranged.
