During a fiery panel discussion on FOX News Sunday, Republican strategist Matt Gorman dismantled the left’s faux outrage over Texas’ redistricting efforts, exposing how Democrats have been rigging the game for years—only to now whine when the GOP fights back.
“Look, Democrats like to play with matches and think they will never be the ones to get burned,” Gorman declared, calling out the left’s blatant hypocrisy. He pointed to Wisconsin, where Democrats recently tried to strong-arm courts into redrawing district lines in their favor just months ago. “This whole thing started not with Texas, but with Wisconsin Democrats going to the court to try to redraw lines a couple months ago to get better seats for themselves.”
Gorman didn’t stop there. He reminded viewers how Democrats shamelessly manipulated districts in blue strongholds like New York, Maryland, and Illinois—where they’ve perfected the art of political power grabs. “I was at the NRCC in 2018 when, six months before Election Day—six months—Democrats went to the courts to get new lines drawn—new congressional districts—flipping several of them to the Democrats,” he said.
The strategist also highlighted the staggering double standard in states like Illinois, where Democrats dominate congressional seats despite Republicans winning a significant share of the statewide vote. “Texas Republicans get the same proportion of the statewide vote as Illinois [Republicans] do. They don’t even have close to the number of congressional seats proportionally that the Illinois Democrats do.”
Yet, the left-wing media—always eager to paint Republicans as the villains—conveniently ignores their own party’s dirty tactics. Instead, they hyperventilate over Texas, where Republicans are simply playing by the rules Democrats themselves established. “This is a game and the rules that Democrats have set. We will play by their rules,” Gorman asserted, confidently predicting that the GOP will ultimately outmaneuver them.
