On Thursday’s episode of ‘The View’, Senator John Fetterman boldly called out the Democratic Party’s weaponization of American institutions for political gain. Speaking on Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s case against President-elect Donald Trump, the senator declared that the charges were “politically motivated” and that a pardon would be appropriate. He also stated that the ongoing prosecution of President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, was similarly driven by political motives.
Fetterman slammed the politicization of these cases, emphasizing that it has led to a growing distrust in U.S. institutions among the American public. He argued that the Hunter Biden trial, in particular, was a clear example of how the Democrats use these institutions to their advantage. He stated, “In both cases, I think a pardon is appropriate and I think collectively, I think American’s confidence in these institutions have been damaged by these kinds of cases.”
The senator went on to criticize his own party for celebrating Trump’s conviction in May of this year in order to tout the fact that the former president is now a convicted felon. He pointed out the hypocrisy of the Democratic Party, which had previously been championing criminal justice reform and second chances. Now, they were using Trump’s conviction to further their political agenda.
However, Fetterman clarified that he was not just referring to the case against Trump, but also to the ongoing prosecution of Hunter Biden. He stated that these charges would never have been brought if the Democrats did not have the power to weaponize American institutions against their political opponents.
But Fetterman’s remarks were quickly brushed aside by co-host Joy Behar, who suggested that Trump would use the same argument to pardon those involved in the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021. Trump had previously stated that he would pardon a “large portion” of the rioters if he won reelection.
However, Fetterman made it clear that he was not talking about the Capitol rioters, and reiterated that both the Hunter Biden and Trump cases were politically motivated. He said, “Clearly, both of those trials, the Hunter Biden one and the trial in New York for Trump, were clearly politically motivated.” He went on to argue that these types of charges would never have been brought if one side did not have the ability to use them as a weapon.
In a statement on Sunday, Biden expressed his outrage at the prosecution of his son, arguing that Hunter was “singled out” and unfairly targeted by his political opponents. He claimed that most Americans do not get prosecuted for writing false information on a form or paying taxes past their due date.
Fetterman’s comments shed light on the dangerous trend of weaponizing American institutions for political gain. He called out the hypocrisy of the Democratic Party and emphasized the need to protect the integrity of these institutions. The ongoing cases against Hunter Biden and Trump are clear examples of this dangerous trend, and a pardon would be appropriate to rectify the politically motivated charges.
