Hillary Clinton, once deemed a heroine to the leftist media, has offered a piece of advice to president Biden that has not aged well. Her hypocrisy surrounding this advice, however, has only aged beautifully. In a pre-recorded interview with MSNBC’s Alex Wagner, Hillary acknowledges the potential backlash of Biden’s old age and states that “It’s a legitimate issue…I talk to people in the White House all the time, and you know, they know it’s an issue.”
She goes on to mention Trump, who is only three years younger than Biden, and implies that his mental competence is also a potential issue.
The real problem for Biden and the Democrats is that no one really questions Trump’s mental competence. If he wasn’t sharp, he would have sunk long ago under the incessant attacks of the past four years. The fact that Hillary is forced to acknowledge Biden’s liability, even to a friendly network like MSNBC, is an indication of how dire the situation is. This not only poses a problem for the Democratic Party politically, but also for the country as a whole in terms of security and prosperity.
Of course, Hillary doesn’t directly mention Biden’s mental and physical limitations in her advice. Instead, she tries to divert attention to his experience and character, stating, “I think he should be willing to really pull that out…and I think he should kid more about it.” This advice, however, becomes even more ludicrous when one considers that the release of the special counsel’s report only a day later paints Biden as mentally unfit to stand trial.
The report paints a picture of a doddering old man who can’t even remember when he served as vice president or when his son, Beau, died.
Moreover, Biden’s disastrous news conference on Thursday only added fuel to the fire. His reference to the president of Egypt as the president of Mexico was not only insulting, but also not reassuring to citizens who expect the American president to be lucid when it comes to foreign affairs. This news conference only solidified the concerns about Biden’s ability to lead the country.
In her interview, Hillary tries to highlight Biden’s experience and character as strengths. However, as the author points out, this is almost comical given the recent revelations about the Biden family’s character. The recent scandals involving Hunter Biden’s laptop have shown the lack of integrity in the Biden family, making Hillary’s mention of character almost laughable.
Don’t forget Hillary’s own record, which has been filled with dishonesty, scandals, and a lack of accountability. From her time as first lady to her role as secretary of state, Hillary has consistently avoided taking responsibility for her actions. She has never been honest with the American people, whether it be about her husband’s infidelities or the Benghazi attacks.
Hillary’s advice to Biden only serves to highlight her own hypocrisy. She is urging Biden to “lean into” his age and liabilities, yet she has never done so herself.
It would be like her making a campaign ad out of the Rose Law Firm records, or running on her chronic abuse of her husband’s accusers. Hillary’s advice may have been given with good intentions, but the way she words it only serves to highlight her own flaws and lack of integrity.
