Fox News host Laura Ingraham and Fox Business’s Dagen McDowell were not afraid to confront former Obama advisor Robert Wolf during a heated segment on the Democratic National Convention (DNC). Ingraham and McDowell were discussing the recent revelation that U.S. officials had overestimated the number of jobs in the national economy by a staggering 818,000 between April 2023 and March 2024. Ingraham was outraged by this news, rightfully calling it a “scandal.”
McDowell added that this report shows that the manufacturing industry has been in a recession for over two years, with 115,000 jobs lost. Ingraham pointed out that most job growth under the Biden-Harris administration has been in hospitality and government jobs, hardly a sign of a strong economy. She also noted that if this had happened under Trump, the media and the Democrats would have gone wild.
But Wolf tried to spin the situation, claiming that “250,000 jobs per month under Biden is greater than 180,000 under Trump.” However, this kind of spin ignores the fact that the economy was recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic during the Biden-Harris administration, while the Trump administration saw record job growth and low unemployment rates prior to the pandemic. Ingraham called out Wolf’s dodgy math, saying, “250,000 jobs per month is only greater than 180,000 if you take out the COVID influence.”
The discussion then turned to energy production and imports, with Wolf falsely claiming that Trump imported more barrels from Venezuela every month than Biden. Ingraham quickly dismissed this false claim, stating that under the Trump administration, the economy was growing and therefore, there was a higher demand for energy. McDowell added that Harris has co-sponsored the Green New Deal, which aims to eliminate all fossil fuels by 2050 and would cost every American household $8,000 more.
McDowell also pointed out that Harris has yet to formally address the media or have a news conference since being endorsed for president 32 days ago, suggesting that she is avoiding the media to avoid being exposed for her extreme policies.
Ingraham then turned her attention to Harris directly, questioning why she and other Democrats view oil companies as “part of the problem,” while also accepting campaign donations from them. Wolf’s response? More spin, claiming that the excess profits made by these companies are going towards renewable energy. But McDowell was quick to challenge Wolf, stating that Harris has proposed getting rid of hydraulic fracturing, a technique that currently accounts for the majority of oil and gas production in the country.
The segment ended with McDowell calling out Harris for refusing to own up to her extreme policies and her failure to address the media. In contrast, President Trump has been transparent and accessible to the media throughout his presidency. This segment was a prime example of the stark difference between the Trump administration and the Biden-Harris campaign – one that values transparency and a strong economy, while the other hides behind misleading statistics and refuses to take ownership of their radical agenda.
The American people deserve leaders who are not afraid to address the tough questions and make decisions that will continue to have a positive impact on the economy.
