White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt delivered a sharp rebuke to Democratic Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett after Crockett claimed that supporters of President Donald Trump are suffering from a “mental health crisis.” Leavitt, defending the millions of Americans who back the president, called Crockett’s remarks “incredibly derogatory” and out of touch with the hardworking patriots who form the backbone of the America First movement.
“I think it’s incredibly derogatory to accuse nearly 80 million Americans of mental illness,” Leavitt said. “The last time I checked, Jasmine Crockett couldn’t dream of winning such a majority of the public as President Trump did. And the America First moment, which President Trump has built, is filled with hardworking patriots, the forgotten men and women, business owners, law enforcement officers, nurses and teachers and Middle America, as we all know as everyone who grew up outside of this beltway. That’s who makes up this president’s movement. And Jasmine Crockett should go to a Trump rally sometime and she can see it for herself.”
Crockett’s inflammatory comments came during an interview on Next Question with Katie Couric, where she suggested that Trump’s enduring popularity was a sign of a national “mental health crisis.” This is just the latest in a long line of baseless attacks from Crockett, who has repeatedly smeared Trump and his supporters. In March, she called Trump “an enemy to the United States” on MSNBC, and in February, she arrogantly claimed on The View that Trump’s high approval ratings were due to Americans being “not educated enough to know any better.”

The liberal media, of course, has given Crockett a free pass for her divisive rhetoric, even celebrating her as some kind of truth-teller. Whoopi Goldberg and her co-hosts on The View have fawned over Crockett’s inflammatory remarks, proving once again that the left has no interest in unity—only in demonizing conservatives and Trump supporters.
Meanwhile, President Trump continues to prove his critics wrong. In 2024, he became the first Republican in 20 years to win the popular vote, securing over 77 million votes—more than Kamala Harris, who received 75 million. His movement, built on the values of hard work, patriotism, and putting America first, resonates with millions who have been ignored by the coastal elites and their media allies.
Crockett’s disdain for Trump’s supporters reveals the left’s true contempt for everyday Americans. Rather than engaging with their concerns, Democrats like Crockett dismiss them as mentally ill or uneducated. It’s a tired, elitist playbook—one that only strengthens the resolve of Trump’s base.
