During a heated exchange with a reporter on Wednesday, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre adamantly denied that President Joe Biden referred to Trump supporters as “garbage” in a recent Zoom call. Biden’s remark came in response to a comedian’s joke about Puerto Rico being a “floating island of garbage” at a Trump rally on Sunday.
Jean-Pierre sparred with The Associated Press reporter Aamer Madhani as she insisted that Biden’s comment was aimed solely at the comedian and his “hateful rhetoric.” She read a statement from the president clarifying his words, which stated that he was referring to the “demonization of Latinos” by Trump supporters, and that his comments do not reflect the views of the nation.
Madhani pressed Jean-Pierre on whether the president regrets not being more specific and for making the comment while Vice President Kamala Harris was giving her closing argument to the nation. He asked if Biden has any regrets about how this may have overshadowed Harris’ campaign.
However, Jean-Pierre maintained that Biden’s intention was to clarify his words, as they were being taken out of context. She reiterated that he was addressing the “hateful rhetoric” aimed at the Puerto Rican community and that he wanted to call it out.
Biden’s comment came during a speech by Harris in which she referred to Trump as an “unhinged” and “unstable” leader who will govern as a “fascist” if reelected. The Democrats have repeatedly labeled Trump as a want-to-be dictator and have even compared his rallies to Nazi rallies, equating him to Adolf Hitler.
This is not the first time that Biden or his Democratic colleagues have made inflammatory remarks about Trump and his supporters. Just recently, Jean-Pierre herself referred to Trump as a “fascist” in response to comments made by his former chief-of-staff, John Kelly.
In 2016, former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton infamously referred to half of Trump supporters as a “basket of deplorables,” labeling them as “racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, and Islamophobic.”
It is clear that the Biden administration and the Democratic Party view Trump and his supporters as less than human, resorting to name-calling and false accusations in order to discredit and undermine them. This only further demonstrates the divisive and hateful rhetoric that they claim to condemn.
Trump has always stood up for the American people, passionately fighting for their rights and working to strengthen our nation. His policies have boosted the economy, secured our borders, and protected our freedoms. He has never wavered in his support for all Americans, regardless of their political beliefs.
It is time to reject the hatred and division promoted by Biden, Harris, and the Democrats. We must stand with President Trump and his commitment to a united and prosperous America.
