During a recent interview on Fox News’ “Special Report with Bret Baier,” Vice President Kamala Harris was faced with a tough question about President Joe Biden’s cognitive abilities. Baier asked when Harris first became aware of Biden’s “mental faculties” and if she had any concerns about them. However, when Harris’s supporter David argued that this was a “gotcha moment,” journalist Mark Halperin disagreed.
Halperin pointed out that asking Harris about her knowledge of Biden’s cognitive state is not a “gotcha question,” but rather one of accountability and honesty. He noted that Harris had regular meetings with Biden and could not have been completely unaware of any potential issues with his cognitive abilities. Halperin also referenced a public incident where Biden appeared to forget that a Republican representative had passed away, despite Harris having the opportunity to see it live.
Despite Halperin’s argument, David stammered and defended Harris, saying that she probably just had her own suspicions and did not have any factual knowledge. However, Halperin pointed out that this issue is not one that can simply be moved on from, as it affects the lives of millions of Americans who have a president with a noticeable cognitive decline.
Baier continued to press Harris, asking when she first became aware of Biden’s cognitive abilities. Harris failed to directly answer the question, instead choosing to praise Biden’s “judgment” and “experience.” When pressed again, she responded by saying that Biden is not on the ballot and shifted the conversation to criticizing former President Donald Trump.
It’s no surprise that Biden’s cognitive abilities have come under scrutiny, especially after his poor performance in the first presidential debate against Trump. This raised concerns among many Americans about his fitness to hold office.
Yet, when questioned about it, Harris chose to deflect and not give a direct answer. This may be because she knows the truth but is hesitant to reveal it to the public. After all, she stood by in silence while the whole administration watched as Biden’s cognitive abilities seemed to diminish.
It is not a “gotcha question” to ask Harris about her knowledge of Biden’s cognitive state. It is a legitimate concern for the American people, who deserve to know the truth about the person who holds the highest office in the country.
And while Harris may have chosen to avoid directly answering the question, it’s clear that the issue of Biden’s cognitive abilities is one that cannot be brushed aside or ignored. Americans deserve transparency and honesty from their leaders, and this includes addressing any potential concerns about the president’s cognitive state.
