Watch: Mother And Son Arrested For $800,000 Crime Spree: ‘Scare Her To Death’

A mother and son have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery that took place in Hialeah on September 16th, according to a report by Local 10. The suspects, identified as 55-year-old Lourdes Diaz and 24-year-old Julian Flores, were arrested on Tuesday for their alleged involvement in the robbery, which resulted in the theft of over $800,000 worth of jewelry.

The incident occurred when the mother and son targeted a victim outside of a beauty salon, as reported by Local 10 News. The victim, an employee at the salon, was leaving work and loading valuable jewelry into her car when she was approached by an armed man dressed in all-black wearing a face mask.

According to the arrest report, Flores aggressively attempted to wrestle the victim’s luggage from her hands inside the salon, and then proceeded to pistol-whip her. He then allegedly fired a shot, causing the victim to let go of the luggage. This allowed the suspects to quickly load it into a white Chevy Equinox and flee the scene, as seen in surveillance footage.

Fortunately, the police were able to trace the car to Diaz, leading to the recovery of approximately 1,300 pieces of jewelry worth $800,000. Officer Scarlett Hernandez of the Hialeah Police stated that the mother had befriended the victim in order to gather information about her jewelry and plan the robbery. She added, “The mother was befriending the victim, asking her questions, ‘how much jewelry do you carry? How much does this cost? Can I see? Would you bring it to me to see it.’ And then waiting for her for the perfect opportunity to be able to batter her, scare her to death and take the jewelry.”

The victim, Eunice Sanchez, expressed her relief that the suspects were apprehended. She recounted her experience, saying, “I am happy that they were arrested. The police did their job and I hope this does not happen to anyone else. The woman came to the salon and planned with her son to rob me. Her son assaulted me with a firearm. I was going to my car and he came close to me with a firearm because I would not give him my bag I was holding on to and he assaulted me.”
