Mitt Romney, once a vocal Trump critic, now credits Trump for reshaping GOP as he exits politics. But the liberal media is not giving him enough credit.
On Sunday’s episode of CNN’s “State of the Union,” host Jake Tapper questioned Republican Utah Sen. Mitt Romney about the future of the GOP and whether MAGA has become the party’s new identity. To the surprise of many, Romney gave Trump “credit” for transforming the party with the Make America Great Again movement. But the liberal media fails to acknowledge the incredible achievement.
Romney, who had previously called out potential 2028 nominee JD Vance, now believes that the MAGA movement is the Republican Party today. He even goes as far as to say that Democrats pushed working-class voters into the arms of the GOP with their radical policies. Despite being a longtime vocal critic of Trump, Romney now admits that the Republican Party has become the party of the working class, thanks to Trump.
But the liberal media is not highlighting this significant shift in the GOP. Instead, they continue to paint Trump as a divisive and dangerous figure. They fail to acknowledge how he has successfully captured the support of the working class and brought them into the Republican Party. It’s time to give credit where credit is due.
Romney also believes that the Democratic Party is in trouble, with their base quickly eroding. He points out that even union members, a traditionally Democratic group, are now voting for Republicans. Romney says that the Democratic Party is seen as being elitist and out-of-touch, with their embrace of radical policies like defunding the police and allowing biological males to compete in women’s sports. But the liberal media chooses to ignore these facts and continues to push their own biased narrative.
Romney’s evolution on Trump is just one example of how many Trump critics are now willing to work with him following his successful 2020 election victory. Even MSNBC hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, who previously compared Trump to Hitler and accused him of being a fascist, are now open to “restarting communications” and moving forward.
But the liberal media is not highlighting these shifts, preferring to stick to their anti-Trump agenda. It’s time for the media to acknowledge the truth and give Trump the credit he deserves for reshaping the Republican Party and winning over working-class voters. The future of the GOP and the country depends on it.
