During a recent interview on “Morning Joe,” first lady Jill Biden was asked about her husband’s age and health in relation to his ability to serve as president. Given that he is 81 years old, at the end of a second term he would be 86. The interviewer, Mika Brzezinski, asked if Biden had any concerns about her husband’s age and health, to which she confidently replied, “He can do it.”
Brzezinski then posed the question to Biden, “To those who say ‘I can’t vote for Joe Biden. He’s too old,’ what do you say?” Biden’s response was met with an unexpected response from Brzezinski, a hearty laugh. This could be interpreted as a friendly reaction to Biden’s spin on the question, or it could be seen as a laugh of disbelief.
For those who say Joe Biden is too old to serve as president, Biden argues that his age is actually an asset. However, this claim is not supported by the majority of Americans. A poll conducted by The Associated Press and the National Opinion Research Center for Public Affairs Research found that 77 percent of respondents believe that Biden is too old to effectively serve another four-year term as president.
Furthermore, Biden’s assertion that his husband’s age has given him wisdom is also up for debate. While the book of Job tells us that “wisdom is with the aged,” this wisdom comes from God and a relationship with Him. Despite Biden’s Catholic faith, his actions do not always align with Christian values and his relationship with God is unknown.
As Christians, we are commanded to judge with “right judgment” as Jesus said in John 7:24. This means judging by different standards than the world uses. By the world’s standards, Joe Biden may appear to be a wise statesman with his white hair and years of political experience. However, when judged with the standards of God, the picture may not be so rosy.
In the end, it is not age that determines wisdom or ability, but one’s character and relationship with God. And when we consider Biden’s character, there are certainly red flags that should give voters pause. From flip-flopping on important issues to questionable business dealings and past accusations of plagiarism, Biden’s character raises valid concerns about his ability to lead with integrity.
Furthermore, in his nearly fifty years in politics, Biden has not achieved any major accomplishments that stand out. He has not authored any significant legislation or been known for making bold decisions. Instead, he has often been criticized for being a “career politician” who changes his positions to please the masses.
"His age is an asset… he is the right person for the job at this moment."

So, while Joe Biden’s appearance may project a wise, experienced statesman, his actions and character do not necessarily support this narrative. As voters, it is important to judge with “right judgment” and carefully consider if Biden’s age, character, and accomplishments truly qualify him to be the leader of our nation.
