As the United States continues to deal with its current political climate, the weaponization of the justice system by Democrats has become increasingly apparent. The latest example of this occurred during a White House press briefing where Michael Shear of The New York Times called out President Biden and White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre over the double standard of refusing to weigh into some but not all criminal probes.
The incident occurred days after the arrest of former President Donald Trump and prior to Jean-Pierre’s “Doocy Time” as the Fox correspondent asked why the White House wouldn’t say more about the unprecedented situation. Shear latched onto Jean-Pierre’s answers and questioned “what is different between [Biden’s] willingness to talk about January 6th and questions about Trump?”
Jean-Pierre’s response was simply that January 6th was “devastating” and that the White House “will never shy away when it comes to our democracy.” Shear then pushed back, noting that while millions of Americans watched the events unfold on January 6th, there were “500 active legal cases going on” that were “potentially affected” by Biden’s words.
Unfortunately, Jean-Pierre refused to answer Shear’s questions, instead insisting that the White House was “very mindful” of the “ongoing cases” and would not “comment” on “these criminal” cases. Shear then asked if the White House was aware of the “millions of people out there” whose “freedom” was “at risk” due to the criminal cases, to which Jean-Pierre simply repeated her original talking points.
It is clear that the White House is attempting to avoid addressing the fact that they are weaponizing the justice system. While this is a tactic that has been used by both parties in the past, it is extremely concerning that the Biden administration is refusing to address the issue and is instead attempting to deflect and avoid responsibility.
The exchange between Shear and Jean-Pierre perfectly illustrates this point, as Jean-Pierre is clearly trying to avoid the issue and Shear is adamant that the White House address the issue and take responsibility. This exchange is yet another example of the weaponization of the justice system, which is a worrying sign for the future of the United States.
