Watch: Ramaswamy Hand Unhinged LBGTQ Protester The Mic, Then Flips The Script

At a recent campaign rally, Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy showed his ability to turn a hostile protester into an engaged participant. When confronted by an LGBT activist, Ramaswamy didn’t brush her off or try to silence her, but instead opened up a dialogue on the very issues she was protesting. This encounter, captured on video, demonstrates Ramaswamy’s talent for empathetic conversation and his commitment to engaging with all members of the community, even those who may disagree with him.

The exchange began with the activist, already visibly agitated, interrupting Ramaswamy’s speech with a question about his stance on LGBTQ issues. Instead of ignoring or dismissing her, Ramaswamy respectfully offered her his microphone, which she initially refused. The activist then shouted her question, asking, “What is your stance on LGBTQ?” Ramaswamy responded by discussing the shifting perspectives on the LGBTQ community, noting how in the past, it was believed that sexual preferences were “hardwired” from birth, but now the left is pushing for the idea that gender identity can be changed at will. He also voiced his opinion that being transgender is a mental disorder.

This statement incited the protester to give Ramaswamy the finger and walk out while shouting expletives. But instead of letting her go, Ramaswamy convinced her to come back and continue their discussion. He then used the opportunity to bring up the issue of children being transitioned at a young age, citing the cases of young adults regretting their transition in their 20s. He emphasized the need for society to show compassion and dignity towards these individuals. He also criticized the current cancel culture, describing it as a “tyranny of the minority” that silences opposing viewpoints.

The activist, who identified herself as a lesbian, then shared her personal experience of growing up in a small town and hiding her sexuality. Ramaswamy responded by reaffirming his belief that adults are free to live their lives as they choose, as long as they are not hurting others. However, he noted that there are limits, such as in the case of men claiming to be women competing in women’s sports. This sparked an unexpected moment of agreement between the two, with the activist stating, “That’s different,” and then fist-bumping Ramaswamy.

He then concluded by stating that through dialogue, they were able to find common ground and agree that children should not be treated as adults in these complex issues.
