Tell me you’re funding terrorism, without telling me you’re funding terrorism…
American citizens were appalled when leaders from the Biden administration announced a deal to transfer $6 billion in previously frozen Iranian assets and free several Iranian nationals in exchange for the release of five Americans being held hostage in Iran. Outrage erupted further when news broke that Iran had helped Hamas plan their terror attack against Israel, weeks in advance, and further granted them the green light to launch their deadly assault.
Associated Press diplomatic reporter Matt Lee was quick to call out State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller when it came to accusations that Tehran had used their unfrozen funds to back Hamas’s attack. “You guys are saying, yes, maybe that specific dollar with that serial number or that euro with that serial number on it can’t be used to fund terrorism. But the fact of the matter is, and you guys know this, is that it frees up money that Iran has already inside its own country to use for other things so they don’t have to spend that money on these non-sanctioned items,” Lee said.
Miller responded by attempting to blame the former Trump administration for initiating the proceedings, but Lee immediately interjected and stated “but that is not the argument! That is not the criticism you’re getting.”
White House national security spokesperson John Kirby further complicated the situation when he told Fox News the reallocated funds “would not be able to fund Hamas.” Fox News host Bret Baier pushed back by arguing Iran already had several billions of dollars from its oil exports and could have used that extra money to fund Hamas.
This disastrous deal has once again shined a light on Democratic leaders’ willingness to continually support terrorists and defend violent Islamic extremists. Along with the ramifications of this ill-fated transaction, citizens have had to watch their own government irresponsibly provide Iran with assistance and consequently put their own allies in dangerous situations.
In the words of Lee, “There is just no evidence that that is accurate…Is there evidence that it isn’t accurate?” This transaction and the bizarre defense of it shed light on how Democrats continually prioritize the interests of terrorists rather than the safety of American citizens and their allies.
There is no reality in which you can openly admit that the group you funnel money to bankrolls terrorists BUT claim it’s not with YOUR cash… How ignorant. What idiot believes this mess?
