Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-MO) warned Monday that the left’s plots to censor information is rooted in “power and control.” Speaking in a fired-up speech, Schmitt said, “Censorship is on the rise is [sic] America — and it’s being done under the guise of controlling ‘misinformation’ or ‘disinformation’ — but the goal is still the same: power and control.”
He went on to emphasize the importance of freedom of speech in America. “The freedom to speak your mind in the public square or virtual towns square is vital to the health of the Republic, and far too many Americans are being told what they can say, what they can hear and what they can see,” Sen. Schmitt said.
He also criticized the federal government’s collusion with Big Tech companies to censor information. “The desire of governments and powerful leads [sic] to control speech is hardly new but America has always stood as the exception,” Schmitt stated. “Recently, government actors colluded with Big Tech companies — some of the biggest companies and most powerful companies in the history of the world — to censor and de-platform individuals for not buying into the approved narrative,” he added, describing Biden’s Disinformation Governance Board as “Orwellian.”
Schmitt concluded his passionate speech by rejecting the notion of government control. “It’s not the government’s job to tell us what we can hear or what we’re supposed to believe. Each one of us can make those decisions ourselves,” he said.
In addition to Sen. Schmitt’s calls to arms for Americans to stand up against the increasing government control over public discourse, conservatives are urged to contact their representatives to demand that Big Tech be held to account for censoring speech and upholding the First Amendment. “If you have been censored, contact us using CensorTrack’s contact form, and help us hold Big Tech accountable” Schmitt concluded.
Conservatives are increasingly under attack and must fight back for free speech and an open public discourse. Americans cannot accept government censorship as the new normal.

We must all stand up for the right to free speech. As Schmitt proclaimed, “Each one of us can make those decisions ourselves.” Americans must continue to press their representatives to fight for freedom of speech and stand against censorship.
