Hulk Hogan recently revealed a heavenly encounter he had a few years ago involving his once bitter rival, “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, who was also an iconic professional wrestler. Despite their intense dislike for each other during their wrestling careers, Piper surprised Hogan by reaching out to him to inquire about his faith.
During his appearance on “The 700 Club” on Wednesday, Hogan opened up about his complicated relationship with Piper. He admitted that the two “couldn’t stand each other” during their wrestling days, but in later years, Piper started showing interest in Hogan’s faith. Although Hogan was resistant to the idea of surrendering his life to Christ, he shared that they would text each other every day as Piper was trying to get his life straight.
However, everything changed two days after Piper’s death in 2015 at the age of 61. Hogan received a peculiar voice text message from Piper, which caught him off guard. In the message, Piper could be heard singing a line from the gospel song “I Saw the Light” before declaring, “I’m walking with Jesus today, my brother. Walking with Jesus, loving you, and praying for you.” Hogan couldn’t believe what he was hearing, especially coming from someone like Piper who he never would have expected to make a profession of faith.
The emotional Hogan even broke down in tears when asked if Piper would have wanted him to hear the message of faith. He also shared the voice message itself, which he had previously done in 2023 during an interview on A&E’s “WWE’s Most Wanted.”
Hulk Hogan has claimed that he received a voice message from Roddy Piper two days after he died.

While Hogan acknowledged that there could be a logical explanation for the message, such as a glitch in the cellphone system, he admitted that it shook him up and “spooked” him out.

Hogan described the message as “crazy,” especially because it was from someone who had already passed away. He also found it incredibly profound that Piper’s message mentioned walking with Jesus and loving him, two things that were completely unexpected from his once bitter rival. As fans have pointed out, this released voicemail serves as evidence against claims that Hogan is lying about the supernatural encounter he had with Piper.
I understand that Hulk Hogan has said some inappropriate and outlandish things in his time, but he's definitely owed an apology for being accused of lying about the Roddy Piper voice-mail. I do believe he's genuinely trying to change for the better. #HulkHogan

According to Cage Match, Hogan and Piper faced off against each other 21 times in various venues over the course of three decades. Their bitter rivalry was well-known in the world of wrestling, making Piper’s sudden show of faith all the more surprising to Hogan. Piper’s message continues to resonate with Hogan, and he often reflects on its meaning and impact on his life. The encounter serves as a reminder that even some of the most unlikely individuals can have a change of heart and find their way to faith.
