On Tuesday’s episode of The View, Sunny Hostin, one of the show’s anti-Semitic and racist hosts, once again showed her bias against former President Trump. As the descendant of slave owners, Hostin proved her background as a former federal prosecutor when she spoke about the upcoming hush-money trial against Trump. She admitted her excitement for the trial, calling it a legal nerd’s version of the Super Bowl.
Although the jurors have not been chosen yet, Hostin revealed that 50 people have already declared their inability to remain impartial. She commended their honesty and forthrightness, while also saying that she still believes an impartial jury will be selected. However, she quickly contradicted herself by stating that it is highly unlikely to find an impartial juror due to the widespread knowledge of Trump’s impeachment and unpopularity. In fact, she shared her observation that legal teams will be combing through the social media profiles of potential jurors to gauge their stance on Trump.
Hostin expressed her opinion that this is crucial because if a juror follows Trump-related content on social media, they are unlikely to remain impartial. In her eyes, this is a serious concern as she fears a Trump supporter may lie about hating him and sneak onto the jury. Hostin’s belief is that this could potentially lead to a hung jury. Joy Behar, the show’s supposed “comedian,” asked Hostin how one can “sneak” onto a jury. Hostin replied by stating that they could do so by lying during the questioning process, claiming to hate Trump but still being impartial, only to vote in his favor later on.
Behar interjected with a sarcastic remark, asking Hostin how they would find a jury of Trump’s peers, referring to him as a “bloated orange psycho.” Hostin agreed, adding that it would indeed be tough to find a fair and impartial jury.
In her statement, Hostin showed her clear bias against Trump by assuming that any juror who claims to hate Trump cannot be impartial. She also ignored the fact that potential jurors who are vocal about hating Trump could also have a biased opinion against him, potentially leading to an unfair trial. Her statement also perpetuates the idea that anyone who supports Trump is irrational and untrustworthy, further fueling the divide between political parties.
