WATCH: Trump Dismantles Fake News Media’s Narrative for High Egg Prices

President Donald Trump is tackling the narrative propagated by liberal media about the surge in egg prices, which they have unfairly attributed to his return to the White House. As Trump touched down at Palm Beach International Airport on his way to the Daytona 500, he faced reporters eager to press him on the issue of the unprecedented rise in egg prices, a sensational topic the media has latched onto in an attempt to lay blame on his administration.

Addressing the matter, Trump was quick to explain, “Well, there’s a flu. Before I got here, it was already at an all-time high,” pointing out that the inflation woes predated his return. “I’ve been here for three weeks. I have had nothing to do with inflation. This was caused by Biden,” he asserted, highlighting that under his initial four-year tenure, inflation was virtually nonexistent. Trump confidently added, “I’ll tell you what, this country has made more progress in the last three weeks than it’s made in the last four years, and we’re respected again as a country.”

The first year of Trump’s previous term maintained steady egg prices, with a dozen eggs costing about $1.32 in January 2017. Fast forward to Biden’s administration, where December 2024 saw prices for a dozen Grade A eggs balloon to $4.15, marking a shocking near 200% increase, according to Federal Reserve of St. Louis data.

In a well-handled press briefing, White House spokesperson Leavitt deftly navigated a loaded question concerning Trump’s alleged impact on the escalating egg prices. “I’m really glad you brought this up because there is a lot of reporting putting the onus on this White House for the increased cost of eggs,” she remarked, turning the criticism back on the media. “I would like to point out to each and every one of you that in 2024, when Joe Biden was in the Oval Office or upstairs sleeping, I’m not so sure, egg prices increased 65 percent,” Leavitt pointed out. The narrative that the Biden administration’s handling, including the directive from the Department of Agriculture to cull over 100 million chickens, had severely impacted the chicken and egg supply, was emphasized by her candid response.

Further action is being taken by Trump’s team with White House Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett leading initiatives to resolve the issue. “What we need to do is have better ways with biosecurity and medication and so on to make sure that the perimeter doesn’t have to kill the chickens. We have a better, smarter perimeter,” stated Hassett, underscoring their focus on innovative solutions with top scientists rather than resorting to drastic culling measures. He was clear in debunking misinformation, explaining that it’s ducks and geese, not chickens, that are the primary vectors of disease.

Supporters of Trump can see first-hand how his administration is committed to tackling these challenges head-on, putting science and accuracy over fear-driven narratives.
