President-elect Donald Trump’s new agency, Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), will pursue mass reductions and fight bureaucratic pushback, according to co-leader Vivek Ramaswamy.
In an interview with Fox News host Maria Bartiromo on “Sunday Morning Futures,” Ramaswamy explained the goals and plans of DOGE, which he leads with Elon Musk. DOGE aims to eliminate unnecessary federal agencies and increase efficiency within existing agencies. Ramaswamy also emphasized the need for accountability and the potential for pushback from both the Left and members of Congress.
As Ramaswamy stated, DOGE will not shy away from taking bold action in pursuit of its goals. This includes holding federal agency workers accountable through mass firings and shutting down entire agencies. He pointed out that many government employees lack efficiency because they do not face the same risk of removal as elected officials. This is a common issue in government that has hindered progress for decades.
Bartiromo questioned how DOGE leaders like Ramaswamy and Musk will overcome pushback from both the bureaucratic establishment and Congress itself. Ramaswamy acknowledged the challenges but expressed confidence in the support of the American people and the lack of political ties that he and Musk have.
He also applauded President Trump for setting up DOGE to succeed, unlike past attempts to address inefficiency in the federal government.
Ramaswamy also emphasized the importance of scoring quick wins in order to make lasting change within the U.S. government. He praised the Trump administration for actively seeking solutions and not allowing DOGE to become another drawn-out government project. As he stated, their work is set to be completed by July 4, 2026, and they do not want it to last any longer than necessary.

When asked if DOGE will shut down entire federal agencies, Ramaswamy confirmed that they will. He highlighted the potential for massive cuts in federal contractors and others who are overcharging the government.
This is a promising step towards reducing wasteful spending and making the government more efficient. And as Ramaswamy pointed out, these changes will be made expeditiously due to the legal backing of the Supreme Court.

DOGE’s goals and plans showcase a refreshing approach to tackling long-standing issues within the federal government. Instead of following traditional political norms, DOGE will operate like a business and make necessary changes to increase efficiency and accountability. This is a true testament to President Trump’s commitment to drain the swamp and make America great again.
