Former Vice President and 2024 presidential candidate Mike Pence made an egregious error in a newly released promotional video touting his energy policy that was shared Tuesday. In the footage, Pence can be seen at a gas station attempting to fill his red pickup truck while speaking about the damage the Biden administration has done to energy policy.
However, Pence never actually managed to fill his truck. In this awkward and absurd scene, he merely removed the pump’s nozzle, stuck it in the gas tank, and had the gall to talk about high gas prices while not even selecting a fuel grade or pushing the pump trigger.
The beeps from the pump, usually indicating one must select the grade of gas and then begin the fuel flow, were heard in the video, yet Pence still failed to notice. He continued to expound on the Biden administration’s “war on energy,” claiming high gas prices have caused difficulties for working families, small businesses, and family farms.
Pence unveiled his own solution this week in the form of the “Pence energy plan,” which hoped to increase refining capabilities, access rare earth minerals, and replenish the strategic petroleum reserve. However, with an approval rating hovering at just 5% in the Republican primary field, it’s hard to imagine Pence taking off in the upcoming debates.
Pence’s poor attempt to pump gas is just another example of his strong suit not lying in policy or diplomacy. Not only does he lack the confidence to even fill his car up, but his ‘Pence energy plan’ also fails to acknowledge the need to transition to green energy, silence regarding the fuel industry’s escalating environmental issues, and a vision that’s stuck in the past.

It speaks volumes about the former Vice President that he could not even complete the most mundane task of pumping gas, let alone tackle the future of energy policy. There’s just no hope of Mike Pence rising to the challenge and producing effective solutions that will help future generations. Here’s hoping for a different outcome from the next presidential election.
