During Tuesday’s press briefing, White House Press Sec Jen Psaki claimed that Biden’s withdrawal from Afghanistan was nothing short of a ‘success’. Never mind those trapped Americans?
When a reporter ‘circled back’ to her statement Monday that Americans are “not trapped in Afghanistan” she fumbled hard. Fox News’ Peter Doocy brought up at least one woman who reached out to the network looking for help escaping the Taliban. How did Psaki respond to the news there someone has proof Americans are trapped? She claimed that the woman must not be ‘registered’. Implying anyone who wants to leave must register in a country that reportedly has limited access to the internet.
Not to mention it’s suddenly unsafe to travel— Especially for women!
Psaki later let a dark reality slip when asked about the remainder of Americans and allies still trapped.

Doocy: "You said yesterday it's irresponsible to say that Americans are stranded in Afghanistan right now. What do you say to the American citizens in Kabul that fox spoke to this morning" who says she's been "stranded."

“I would say that this is now on track to be the largest airlift in U.S. history,” Psaki said. “And that is bringing American citizens out. It is bringing our Afghan partners out. It is bringing allies out. So, no, I would not say that is anything but a success.”
Only hours after the White House claimed the US was ‘on track’ to evacuate by the August 31st deadline set by the Taliban, the US Embassy warned Americans to
Another reporter pressed Psaki on what happens if Americans are still in the Taliban-ridden country after the deadline. That’s when Psaki let it slip that the White House expects some people might be left behind:
“Again, we expect there could be some, but I’m not going to get into it further,” she said.

The biggest narrative out of the White House right now in terms of getting Americans out is that they are committed to getting ‘those who want out, out’. How much do you want to bet that the White House will claim anyone still in Afghanistan after the deadline didn’t want to leave?
Mind you, officials are still urging against travel, including to the airports, noting unsafe conditions.
