A Tesla driver has been charged with vehicular homicide after a fatal collision that killed a motorcyclist. The driver, 56-year-old Carl Hunter, was allegedly using the autopilot feature at the time of the accident. According to court documents, the victim, 28-year-old Jeff Nissen, was pronounced dead at the scene. It is reported that Nissen was ejected from his motorcycle and run over by the Tesla.

When she noticed he had stopped at the location of the accident, she immediately called him. Hutchinson believes that both the driver and Tesla are responsible for her fiancé’s death.
According to Hutchinson, the Tesla’s autopilot feature gave the driver a false sense of security, leading him to think he could look at his phone while driving. She emphasized the need for Tesla to improve its safety features to prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future. The accident coincides with Tesla’s launch of its new “Full Self-Driving (Supervised)” technology, which is currently available for a free 30-day trial to Tesla owners in the US and Canada.
Tesla’s promotion of the new technology claims that it can perform tasks like making lane changes, following a navigation route, and navigating around other vehicles and objects, as well as making left and right turns.
