Illegal immigration has been a hot topic since President Biden took office, with the US seeing a surge in migrants crossing the border like never before. Former President Obama’s Secretary of Homeland Security, Jeh Johnson, recently spoke out about the current situation, saying it is “much bigger” than it was in his time as DHS head.
The House Judiciary Committee is now set to hold a hearing on the “Biden Border Crisis,” highlighting the issue and shining a spotlight on DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas’s handling of the situation.
Johnson’s comments make it clear that even fellow Democrats are not happy with how Mayorkas has handled the crisis and that he has let the situation get out of control. House Republicans have even pledged to impeach Mayorkas over his handling of the border.
Johnson also had some advice for Mayorkas, saying that sometimes the job is all about repeating a clear and straightforward message that you want people to hear.
“And so sometimes the essence of the job is repeating over and over again one simple, straightforward message that you want people to hear,” Johnson said.
It’s clear that the US is in the middle of an immigration crisis like never before, and that the Biden administration isn’t doing enough to address it. The US has seen more than five million migrants cross the border since Biden took office, the highest number ever recorded in US history.
The issue of illegal immigration is a complex one, but one thing is for sure: the current administration needs to take steps to secure our borders and curb the influx of migrants. We need to ensure that our immigration laws are enforced and that those entering the US are doing so legally.
It’s clear that the US needs to get a handle on the situation at the border, or else risk further chaos and unrest. Lawmakers need to take action now and put an end to the Biden Border Crisis before it spirals out of control.
