The Supreme Court issued a unanimous ruling that makes federal courts defer to immigration judges when reviewing asylum decisions. Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson wrote the opinion, saying a "substantial-evidence standard" applies and stressing that "The agency's determination… is generally 'conclusive unless any reasonable adjudicator would be compelled to conclude to the contrary,'" which limits how easily asylum rulings can be overturned.
