Clinton Breaks Silence After Epstein Deposition

Bill Clinton filed a short, hoarse video after a long day of questioning. He spent seven hours answering the House Oversight Committee. He did it from an office in Chappaqua, New York.

Republicans say they wanted answers. They asked about Clinton’s connections to Jeffrey Epstein. Chairman James Comer told reporters Clinton said something about President Donald Trump.

“Trump has never said anything to me to make me think he was involved with Epstein,” Comer said.

That line matters to Republicans. They want clarity on who knew what and when. Fox News also reported Clinton’s lawyers cut him off a few times. They stepped in to stop him from talking too much during the deposition.

Later that evening, Clinton released a video. He sounded worn out. He said he had two reasons for testifying.

“I just finished testifying in front of the House Oversight Committee. I did it for two reasons. First, I live my country, including our Constitution. And America was built on the idea that no person is above the law. Even presidents. Especially presidents and that we should all live under the same set of rules,” Bill Clinton said.

He insisted his relationship with Epstein was limited and ended years before Epstein’s crimes came to light.

“Though my brief acquaintance with Epstein ended years before his crimes came to light, and though I never witnessed during our limited interactions any indication of what was truly going on, I offered the little I do know in hopes that it might prevent anything like this from ever happening again,” Clinton said.

He doubled down on what he says he did and didn’t do.

“I know what I saw, and more importantly, what I didn’t see. And I know what I did, and more importantly, what I didn’t do,” Clinton said echoing his opening statement to the Committee.

Clinton also lashed out at Republicans for calling Hillary in. He defended her memory.

“I also have to say something personal. Republicans made Hillary testify yesterday and she had nothing to do with Jeffrey Epstein, nothing. She has no memory of even meeting him,” Clinton said.

President Donald Trump weighed in too. He pushed back on the spectacle.

“I don’t like seeing him deposed, but they certainly went after me a lot more than that,” Trump said.
