Top Minnesota Officials Accused of Knowing
A key figure in one of Minnesota’s biggest welfare fraud cases says state leaders knew what was happening. Her claim landed in a jailhouse interview and added fuel to an already hot mess.
Aimee Bock — the former head of the nonprofit Feeding Our Future — was convicted in a large fraud scheme tied to school meal programs. She now tells reporters that state officials kept signing off on payments even after red flags popped up.
Her allegations come while the Department of Justice is digging into the broader situation in Minnesota. That federal probe is already putting pressure on Governor Tim Walz and Attorney General Keith Ellison.
Bock told Fox News she thinks top offices should be investigated. She said: “I honestly believe Keith Ellison and Gov. Walz need to be held accountable. There needs to be an investigation done. If they weren’t aware, that’s concerning,”
She also said: “I have to believe that the governor’s office and Keith Ellison’s office were aware of this. They’ve said they were involved in helping the FBI. They’ve said they were made aware, but apparently I’m scary, so they couldn’t do anything,”
Ellison’s team fired back hard. A spokesperson called Bock unreliable and pointed to her conviction. In full: “She is a liar, fraudster, and manipulator of the highest order who has never acknowledged or accepted her guilt. Now, she’s on a media tour to deflect her guilt onto others instead of finally taking responsibility for the fraud scheme she ran,” the spokesperson said.
Both the governor’s office and state agencies have said they cooperated with federal agents. But critics say cooperation and oversight are different things. They want answers about who approved program sponsors and who monitored suspicious claims.
The public reaction is loud. Opponents are calling for more hearings. Supporters of the officials stress due process and point to the DOJ’s role.
For now, the federal probe continues. The politics will keep spinning. People will watch closely to see if any new charges, documents, or testimony change the story.
