Trump Zings Washington Post Reporter on Flight
President Donald Trump didn’t hold back during a short but spicy gaggle aboard Air Force One Friday evening. He was headed to Mar-a-Lago for the Super Bowl weekend. Reporters piled on for questions. He stayed at it for more than 15 minutes.
The encounter started earlier on the South Lawn. Trump stopped to chat with pool reporters while a snowstorm blew through. Later, on the plane, a Washington Post reporter pushed a line about his supporters and immigration. She said, “The MAGA base says they aren’t satisfied with the administration focusing on just deporting violent criminals…”
Trump fired right back. He asked, “Who are you with?” The reporter answered: Washington Post. Then came the zing: “The Washington Post. You’re having a hard time getting readers. The Washington Post is doing very poorly!” He added, “Go ahead. You have a very bad attitude. Go ahead” — unafraid to call it like he sees it.
The reporter tried to press the point. “Well, the number of people in your base says that they want to see all illegal immigrants deported…” she said. President Trump interrupted: “Let me tell you about my base. Let me tell you about my base. My base has never been stronger.”
He kept the tone firm and proud. “My base is people who love our country… they couldn’t be more thrilled. We have crime down to the lowest levels it has been in 125 years,” he said, framing the argument around results and loyalty.
This was classic Trump: quick, blunt, and aimed at the media. He used the moment to both defend his policy stance and to needle a major outlet that’s faced layoffs and circulation hits. To supporters, it read like a straight answer — and a reminder that he still speaks directly to his voters.
