During Trump’s presidency, Trump called Haiti and some other countries sh*tholes. It wasn’t the kindest statement but Haiti has trash rivers so he wasn’t exactly wrong. But sadly the same can be said for some areas in California. They have a booming homeless population and their failure to handle it has led to human excrement littering their streets/sidewalks. It has also caused a rat infestation. But that is is just the tip of the iceberg. As beautiful as California can be, the leadership has failed to properly take of the State or the people in it. So sadly this is just another example of their poor leadership.
San Francisco has set up almost 300 tents for the homeless to house them during this pandemic. There is nothing wrong with that, but somehow they are spending $5000/month per tent. Per tent…the same they use for camping…
“San Francisco is paying $16.1 million to feed and house people in tent villages…”
“That $16 million per year works out to $61,000 per tent or $5,000 per month.”
“The 262 tents currently house more than 300 people, with some vacancies. The villages also provide access to bathrooms, meals, and 24-hour security, the San Francisco Chronicle reported Thursday.
The funding is only a fraction of the more than $300 million the city spends annually on homeless services, and the average cost per night is less than what the city pays under a program to shelter homeless people in hotels, the Chronicle said.”
What kind of food are these people eating? Is it Michelin Star Chefs? There is no reason this should be costing so much. How hard is it to get food from donations/Food shares for the homeless and then distribute it/make it for them? I get they are saying they are providing amenities, But it’s a portapotty and a portable shower. They could house them for this kind of money…Is it government corruption or just a lack of common sense?
