CNN host Don Lemon is known to reach far and wide to twist a story into something race-related but he’s out-done himself this time. Following multiple cases of mail-in voter fraud, Republicans have taught to strengthen security and worked to find a way to include voter identification for those ballots.
You know it’s the right more because the only ones freaking out about it are liberals. Fair and safe voting? Unheard of! Why that would ruin too many loopholes for Democrats to compete with.
Folks like Lemon have spun the GOP’s fight into something race-related. We have listened to this insane narrative that it’s somehow bringing back ‘Jim Crow’ era laws. Laws, that were put in place mostly by racist Democrats, but I’m sure that’s the bit they always seem to leave out of their argument.
Now, Lemon managed to loop the recent shootings into the mix. Saying that the GOP wants to take away American’s rights to vote but refuses to protect us. It was a hell of a reach, even for Lemon. To ad to his melodramatic political theater, lemon had his talking point flash across the screen as he read them off. He was really trying hard to set the mood for viewers:
“When are we finally going to do something about the gun violence that’s killing us?”
“As pandemic restrictions are being lifted, the mass shootings are starting again and America is mourning again”
“Too many on the right don’t have the courage to stand up for our lives, but they’ll take away your vote”
“Why are we willing to tolerate an obscene loss of life?”
“Too many on the right flaunt their devotion to the weapons taking away American lives”
“The 2nd Amendment doesn’t require us to submit to a lifetime of mass carnage”
“Every single one of us is just playing the odds at this point”
Lemon targeted Republicans who have proudly supported the 2nd amendment and slammed women lawmakers who have posed with their guns claiming they’re trying to make it look ‘sexy’:
Lemon’s rant continued, “But the Second Amendment doesn’t require us to submit to a lifetime of mass carnage. That carnage is happening in our real life. Not their theater of the militia. Not in their role-playing — because they’re playing roles….You have the Second Amendment, which is a right in the Constitution, right? A privilege. But you also have the First Amendment that people can love this country and then want to analyze and criticize the Second Amendment and the rest of the amendments and everything.”
“That’s your right under the First Amendment of the Constitution. So by criticizing the Second Amendment and wondering if there are things we can do to improve the situation when it comes to guns — doesn’t mean you’re un-American, doesn’t mean you’re anti-gun,” Lemon added.
“It means you’re exercising your First Amendment. See where I’m going here? To make things better for all of your countrymen. And to try to save lives. First Amendment, you can criticize the Second Amendment and everything that goes along with it. That’s part of being a patriot and an American is holding our lawmakers accountable. And they must be held accountable for what is happening with guns in this country. So stop playing politics with our lives,” he concluded.
Look, this all seems ridiculous to most of us but this type of propaganda really works for the left. During Trump’s presidency, a young immigrant boy drowned trying to cross the Rio Grande. You may remember the thousands of memes that floated around social media that falsely depicted the President himself kicking the child into the water.
The meme did its job, it enraged a bunch of libs even though it wasn’t remotely true. The point is, that that level of theatrics works for the left and we shouldn’t just ignore it.
As recently as last week several children died trying to cross the Rio Grande while onlookers recorded their struggle. Conservatives were outraged but people like Lemon mocked that outrage and basically told their viewers that it was being blown out of proportion by the ‘far-right’ media.
And everyone on the left forgot all about those poor kids…
