Oh MY, the theatrics! To hear MSNBC’s Nicole Wallace tell it, Joe Manchin is a trader for voting o behalf of the people and not simply caving into the demands of the Democratic party. The over-imaginative host made a spectacle of herself saying that theWest Virginia Democrat issued a “death sentence” on Biden’s agenda.
I swear, have these people never covered politics before? It’s a slow process, and it should be. If a bill is not agreeable to a politician’s voter base they owe it to their constituents to send it back. It’s worked this way for as long as I can remember. However, now that Democrats have a majority of pretty much everything, the rush to pass any and everything on the wishlist is on full speed.
“West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin has, wittingly or unfittingly, ushered in an official death sentence for most of the Biden agenda by enacting a brand new standard for legislation, claiming that he will not back legislation that doesn’t have bipartisan support,” Wallace said Monday on “Deadline.”
Wallace went on to claim that Manchin delivered a “fatal blow” to the “For the People Act”, which would have undone Republican voter ID efforts predicated on the “big lie” that the 2020 presidential election was rife with fraud.
“The West Virginia senator delivering the fatal blow to voting rights legislation that would have undone the suppression laws racing through state legislatures propelled by the big lie that there was rampant voter fraud in the 2020 election,” Wallace said.
“While Manchin may also be navigating his home state’s view, his stated reasons for opposing the voting rights legislation are positively Trumpian in their detachment from the facts,” she added.

Manchin has expressed several times that he wants to see bi-partisan bills and will not vote just to simply fulfill the wishes of the Democratic party. He also noted how he understands the laws they pass now will affect Americans in the long run and feels that as divided as the nation is, now is not the time to abuse the advantage the Democrats have.
During an interview with West Virginia Gazzette Manchin explained, “American democracy is something special, it is bigger than one party, or the tweet-filled partisan attack politics of the moment. It is my sincere hope that all of us, especially those who are privileged to serve, remember our responsibility to do more to unite this country before it is too late.”
