Rogan Defends Jason Aldean Against Cancel Crowd [Video]

Podcaster Joe Rogan roundly chastised the liberal campaign to cancel country music star Jason Aldean and his song “Try That in a Small Town” due to its depiction of riot culture and crime. Rogan lambasted the ridiculousness of the movement, rendering it even more absurd by noting that there exists a plethora of rap songs with language that is “infinitely worse” than Aldean’s.

Joining the conversation, Canadian professor Gad Saad applauded Rogan’s sentiment, adding to it by pointing out certain rap songs’ tendencies to promote misogyny and glorify violence. To which Rogan reassuringly echoed his agreement, “Mhmm, no complaints at all.”

Rogan, admittedly a fan of rap music, further voiced his disbelief at people’s criticism of the song. He called out particularly ridiculous claims of the song being racist or pro-lynching, and said that it was instead largely white people putting forward the movement of BLM whose behaviors are in reality, hysterical.

The outcry against Aldean’s song came shortly after his music video was pulled from CMT. It featured the singer in front of a courthouse with interspersed events of rioting, including a flag burning. Naturally, this didn’t sit right with many people, and the lyrics of the newly-released song were deemed to be offensive and offensive by some.

Aldean responded to the controversy with a lengthy post on Instagram, reiterating that race was never mentioned in the song and aiming to put the focus on the fact that his lyrics were talking about violent, criminal behavior, rather than extolling citizens to engage in it.

GOP politicians including South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), and former President Donald Trump have all come to Aldean’s defense. Trump himself took to Truth Social and wrote, “Jason Aldean is a fantastic guy who just came out with a great new song. Support Jason all the way. MAGA!!!”

Rogan’s stance on Aldean’s record can be summed up in one word: outrage. According to him, the liberal cancel culture’s fixation on this specific instance has little to no merit and what’s more, they are completely blind to far worse songs that occupy the airwaves. Furthermore, in contradiction to their strong opinions on the issue, the man accused of racism is white, and those attacking the accusations are predominantly black.

Jason Aldean is not alone in this plight. Instead, he is yet another victim of the progressives’ rampart cancel culture that has begun to take up any issue it can find with a fervor that is seemingly unaccounted for. Unfortunately, it is incidents such as this that prove just how far away from constructive debate these so-called “woke” ideologues have strayed in their crusade to achieve cancel culture victories.
