Jasmine Crockett’s Wild Claim About GOP Voters
Rep. Jasmine Crockett sounded certain on TV. She told MSNOW she believes Republican voters will back her in a general election. It’s a bold claim. It’s also unlikely.
The interview didn’t get much pushback. That matters. Candidates need to answer tough questions on camera. Crockett mostly dodged them.
Co-host Michael Steele said, “Do you think Republicans, when you get to a general election, can be convinced that you are the representative they need in Washington?”
Crockett said, “Oh, absolutely. Now, Michael, you can maybe talk about this a little bit more because I think the Democrats have a perception of what Republicans want. And I think that, you know, what the real is. I think that Republicans aren’t looking for somebody that is Republican lite. They can just go and get the real thing. What they want is somebody that they know who they are. So I have text messages from Republicans that have made it clear that if there is a certain person that ends up making it through, they are absolutely voting for me because they know who I am.”
She doubled down with another line that will grab headlines: “And so that’s why we can understand. When Republicans went out and voted for a less than perfect candidate in Donald Trump, they don’t seek perfection, whereas Democrats typically do.”
Talk is cheap. Votes aren’t.
Crockett is running for U.S. Senate in Texas. That’s a big state. It’s a conservative state. Winning there means convincing a lot of folks who haven’t shown an appetite for her politics.
Then there’s the spending record. Federal filings show more than $124,000 spent from her campaigns in 2025 on hotels, transport and private security. That includes $32,685.58 on luxury hotels and about $11,841.27 on top-name hotels in the final quarter as she launched her Senate bid. Hotel names listed include the Ritz-Carlton, St. Regis, Hotel Zaza, Kimpton and the five-star Los Angeles West Hollywood Edition.
She also dropped roughly $11,738.60 on limousine and luxury car services in 2025. That number covers Bay Area Lux Limos and Detailed Drivers, a so-called “white-glove” service. Another entry shows $5,446.30 spent specifically on those services late in the year.
Those numbers undercut the populist pitch. Spending big on luxury travel while running as a fighter against a “system of greed” looks off to many voters. Republicans especially will point that out.
Crockett’s confidence makes for good TV. It won’t change the math in Texas overnight. Republicans tend to back candidates who match their values. Messaging helps. Actions matter more.

Expect this to be a talking point. Expect critics to highlight the spending. And expect both sides to keep fighting hard as the race heats up.
