Ayanna Pressley’s Husband Speaks After Body Found at His Boston Property
Boston police are looking into the discovery of a body at a property owned by Conan Harris, the husband of Rep. Ayanna Pressley.
Officers were called Saturday afternoon to 25 Malta Street in Mattapan, a neighborhood in Boston. What began as a police response was later upgraded to a death investigation. Homicide detectives were brought in as part of that process.
Authorities have not publicly identified the person who died. Police also have not released a cause of death, and there has been no public word on any possible suspects.
According to Newsweek, “The property, 25 Malta Street, has in the past been listed as the address of his business.”
Pressley and Harris reportedly do not live at the Mattapan property. The property has been rented out, according to reports.
A spokesperson for the congresswoman released a short statement Saturday evening on behalf of the family. The statement said, “The Congresswoman extends her deepest condolences to the impacted family.”
Harris also addressed the situation in a Facebook post on Saturday. He wrote, “Thank you Everyone for the care and concern, our family is safe,” and added, “My heart goes out to the family that lost a loved one today in Mattapan.”
Harris has been married to Pressley since 2014. He previously worked in Boston City Hall as a senior public safety adviser. He now runs a consulting firm.
His past has also drawn public attention before. Harris previously served ten years in prison on drug trafficking charges.
At this point, the case remains limited in public detail. Boston police have confirmed that a death investigation is underway at the address, but they have not provided much else. That leaves several major questions unanswered, including who the deceased person was, how the person died, and whether investigators believe foul play was involved.
Death investigations can take time, especially when detectives are still gathering facts, interviewing people, and waiting for findings from medical examiners. For now, officials have not accused Harris, Pressley, or anyone connected to the property of wrongdoing.
