Ohio Couple Arrested After Allegedly Storming Cruise Cabin With 9-Year-Old Inside

A cruise vacation ended with two arrests after authorities say an allegedly intoxicated couple forced their way into a family’s cabin and became involved in a fight that included a 9-year-old child.

Gannon Jacox, 29, and his girlfriend, Brooklyn Hicks, 28, were arrested Saturday evening at Port Canaveral after their cruise ship docked. The arrests followed an incident that reportedly began with loud arguing aboard the vessel.

Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey described the incident in a Facebook post. According to Ivey, Jacox and Hicks had been arguing loudly after drinking alcohol when one of the victims asked them to quiet down.

That request allegedly escalated the situation. Hicks went to confront the family, while Jacox followed with his cellphone and began recording. Authorities say Jacox encouraged Hicks to attack the victims.

The couple then allegedly pushed their way into the family’s cabin. A 9-year-old child was inside the room along with two other people. A fight broke out, and Ivey said Jacox struck all three victims, including the child. Hicks allegedly swung at the people inside, although the sheriff said it was unclear whether she hit anyone.

Jacox also suffered a serious-looking eye injury during the confrontation. Ivey said the injury may have been caused by one of the victims defending themselves or by one of Hicks’ punches. None of the family members were seriously injured, according to the sheriff.

The arrests were made after the ship arrived at Port Canaveral in Brevard County. Jacox was charged with burglary with battery and child abuse without great bodily harm. Hicks was charged with burglary with battery and battery-touch/strike.

Both suspects were booked into the Brevard County Jail. According to local reporting from WFTV, Jacox’s bond was set at $31,000, while Hicks’ bond was set at $6,000.

The sheriff’s account described the confrontation as an alcohol-fueled dispute that quickly turned physical. What started as a request to lower the noise allegedly became a cabin intrusion and a fight involving a child.

The case now moves forward through the criminal justice system. The charges are allegations, and the defendants remain entitled to due process as the proceedings continue.
