WATCH: Surveillance Video Shows Karmelo Anthony Stabbing Austin Metcalf Before Fleeing
A judge has released new evidence in the Karmelo Anthony murder case, and the footage is difficult to watch. The material includes bodycam video from Anthony’s arrest, photos of the murder weapon, pictures of his backpack, and images from the aftermath of the scene.
One of the most important pieces is a grainy surveillance clip that shows the moment Anthony stabbed Austin Metcalf and ran away. The video was shown to the jury. According to the report, it also cuts against the claim that there was a “four minute confrontation” between Anthony and the Metcalf twins.
Witnesses testified that Anthony was the aggressor and that he started the fight with Austin Metcalf. The stabbing turned deadly fast. Metcalf was stabbed in the heart. The teen track star died in his twin brother’s arms.
Photos of the murder weapon, the aftermath, and Anthony’s backpack were also released.

Police bodycam footage shows the moment officers arrived at the track meet to arrest Anthony after the stabbing. In the video, an officer says, “This is the alleged suspect,” and Anthony answers, “I’m not alleged. I did it,”
The bodycam clip is brief, but it is clear. Anthony does not deny what happened once police reach him.
According to the report, Anthony was later sentenced to 35 years in prison after a jury convicted him of murder in the fatal stabbing of Austin Metcalf. The case has drawn heavy attention because of the video evidence, the witness testimony, and Anthony’s own words on bodycam. It is a grim reminder of how fast a violent confrontation can turn into a murder case.
