AOC’s shocking Alabama rally call ignites fury

AOC’s Alabama Remarks Ignite Another Firestorm

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez brought a blast of controversy to Montgomery, Alabama, last week, and the fallout came fast. The New York Democrat spoke at the “All Roads Lead to The South” rally on May 16 and made comments that quickly set off conservatives online.

During the speech, Ocasio-Cortez argued that the United States was not a true democracy until the Voting Rights Act passed in the 1960s. She also went after the Supreme Court, accusing the high court under Chief Justice John Roberts of being “part of that long history of regression and repression in America.”

Her biggest line came when she urged progressives from outside the South to get involved in red states. She called on people in the North to travel to places like Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Tennessee and Mississippi to fight what she described as political injustice.

After the rally, she doubled down on social media and wrote, “If you’re not from these states, it’s time to pull up.”

That message did not land well with critics. Many conservatives pointed out the irony of Ocasio-Cortez using that kind of tough talk while speaking behind bulletproof glass. The security setup became part of the story almost immediately.

One viral response came from conservative podcaster Todd Spears, whose TikTok video drew about 1 million views. He mocked the idea that outsiders should come marching into Southern states to stir up trouble.

“[Pull up] and do what? Help us get the boat off the trailer, like cut the grass, track a deer in the woods? Roll up and do what exactly? Because you’re standing behind, like, pope glass in your own hometown. You come down here starting that s—, you better bring a tank. That’s not a good idea. You stay where you’re at.”

Spears also wrote in the caption, “AOC talking about the North ‘rolling up’ on the South and Alabama, like this is still the 1860s, is wild.” He added, “Maybe politicians should spend less time trying to divide Americans and more time fixing the mess we already have.”

Another TikTok creator, Kei Bennett, also jumped in and warned people not to take Ocasio-Cortez’s advice literally. His video drew more than 800,000 views and leaned into Southern humor and warnings about what might happen if outsiders tried to show up looking for a fight.

“I want to issue a stern warning so you do not take her advice and pull up on Alabama,” Bennett said, before listing off dangers from wild hogs and bayou gators to locals who “will not hesitate to unite and get you the f— up out of here.” He added, “down here in the South we don’t call cops, we call coroners,” and closed with, “Stay your a– up there, leave us alone. We ain’t bothering nobody.”

Ocasio-Cortez’s office did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
