The ruling comes as a major blow to Clinton and the Democratic party as the court revealed that Correct the Record deliberately tried to sway the 2016 election in favor of Clinton through coordinated activities with her campaign. While Trump faced prosecution for a mere $130,000 violation, Clinton gets away with using $6 million to support her campaign.
The Clinton campaign has a history of violating federal election laws, with close ties to the infamous Steele dossier that was used to smear Trump’s campaign. Yet, Clinton escaped with a measly fine, while Trump faced a six-week criminal trial for the same type of violation.
