The stress of his brother’s (New York Gov Andrew Cuomo’s) unavoidable downfall must be getting to the CNN reporter. I say that because host Chris Cuomo is clearly searching for a distraction from his bother’s mess- if he’s serious- he’s lost it. In his recent segment, Cuomo claimed that Republicans are waging a ‘holy war’ by opposing the bill, HR-1 that loosens voting restrictions and lowers the age to vote.
The liberal activist then doubled down saying that the GOP is trying to bring back ‘Jim Crow laws’.
“My argument is, this is becoming some kind of perverse holy war for you guys. Hopefully, once again, Democrats will find a way to fight off the obvious intentions of people like Senator [Ron] Johnson [R-WI],” he sneered.
Even though absolutely no one in the Republican party has brought up race, Cuomo goes on this insane tirade about race and how everything is about race with Republicans:
“THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH RACE.” WHY DISTINGUISH BETWEEN RIOTERS BY RACE? “HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH RACE.” WHY SAY THE PLACES WHERE THE ELECTION WAS RIGGED — WHICH IT WAS NOT — ARE PREDOMINANTLY MINORITY AREAS? WHY DO YOU BRING BACK THE MOST ODIOUS LAWS SUPPRESSING THE BLACK VOTE, ALMOST BY DESIGN, SINCE JIM CROW?
“You want a nice activity,” he rhetorically asked his viewers. “Google ‘Jim Crow Laws’ in states where they existed and compare them to the language, phraseology, and the intention of what’s sold in over 40 states right now, some 250 plus bills. Take a look and be shocked at the similarity.”
Then, the pompous reporter goes on to play a clip of the last Democrat to do anything remotely helpful for minorities- Lendon B. Johnson- a notorious racist. Which just added a whole other layer of bizarre to his rant.
Cuomo pushed the leg work off on viewers to find similarities in the bill because he obviously expects they will take his claims at face value. Which, I’m sure many of them will but the host challenged viewers to compare ‘Jim Crow laws’ to the current voting laws. The reality is that Cuomo doesn’t name a single similarity because they don’t exist.
None of the states have ‘white’s only primaries’. There isn’t a ‘literacy test’ preventing the uneducated from voting. We don’t have a ‘poll tax’, charging voters to exercise their rights.
The only real similarity is that we do require voters to have a state-issued identification card which is available for everyone to obtain. That’s just common sense- bring proof of identity.
The other similarity is that we do not allow felons to vote- which bothers Democrats because that’s another demographic they could be pandering to.
Democrats are also pushing to allow minors as young as 16 to vote to further open their pandering possibilities to more impressionable minds. We require you to be 21 to drink and 18 to join the military because we want mature people to make mature decisions about their future. Granted, it doesn’t guarantee maturity but we have to have standards, don’t we?
