Republican Texas Sen. Ted Cruz’s campaign has filed a complaint against his Democratic opponent Rep. Colin Allred with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) for allegedly violating federal law. The complaint, obtained exclusively by The Daily Caller, accuses Allred of illegally coordinating with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) to exceed the coordinated party expenditure limit.
According to the complaint, Allred and his Senate campaign have been illegally coordinating with Schumer and the DSCC on television ads that have exceeded the coordinated party expenditure limit. This has resulted in potential millions of dollars in excessive in-kind contributions from the DSCC to Allred, which is a clear violation of federal law.
The Cruz campaign specifically points out four advertisements that they believe constitute as “hybrid ads,” which should be considered illegal coordination. In their complaint, they urge the FEC to hold the DSCC accountable for allegedly presenting a false advisory opinion request and failing to abide by their own representations to the commission.
A spokesperson for the Cruz campaign told The Daily Caller, “Colin Allred’s campaign is illegally coordinating with Chuck Schumer and the DSCC. We are calling on the FEC to immediately investigate and put a stop to this flagrant violation of federal law.”
The complaint, which was obtained by The Daily Caller, states, “Allred and his Senate campaign are blatantly coordinating with the DSCC on television ads far in excess of the coordinated party expenditure limit, thus resulting in potentially millions of dollars in excessive in-kind contributions from DSCC to Allred. Complainants ask the Federal Election Commission (‘FEC’ or ‘Commission’) to immediately investigate and put a stop to this flagrant violation of federal law.”

When contacted for a response to the complaint, Allred’s campaign did not immediately respond.
It is clear that the Democrats, including Allred and Schumer, are resorting to illegal tactics in order to try and defeat Senator Cruz in the upcoming election. This is not the first time that the Democrats have been accused of violating federal campaign laws, as similar allegations have been made in other states as well.
President Trump, who has been an outspoken critic of illegal campaign coordination and election interference, has repeatedly warned against the Democrats’ attempts to cheat in the upcoming midterm elections. It is unacceptable that someone like Rep. Allred, who is supposed to uphold the law, is allegedly engaging in such unethical and illegal behavior.
It is imperative that the FEC thoroughly investigate this complaint and put a stop to these illegal actions. The American people deserve fair and transparent elections, not ones that are manipulated and influenced by illegal tactics.
As President Trump has said, we must “drain the swamp” and hold corrupt politicians accountable for their actions. This includes Allred and any others who are found to be violating federal law in their pursuit of elected office. It is time to put an end to this kind of corruption and ensure that our democratic process remains fair and just.
