It’s time to face the facts: the FBI’s investigation into former President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign was one of the most disgraceful injustices in American political history.
As former Attorney General Bill Barr noted in his comments on Fox News’ Special Report, “people who compare it to the Mueller investigation are simply wrong.”
Upon his appointment to investigate Crossfire Hurricane – the investigation that was supposed to explore a possible link between Russia and Trump’s campaign – Special Counsel John Durham found that the FBI had used “uncorroborated intelligence” when they launched the investigation ahead of the election. The FBI then made a tacit admission that the Durham report was accurate, acknowledging the errors made in 2016.
The Durham report not only confirmed that the FBI had acted hastily and without due diligence, but it has also exonerated Donald Trump from any wrongdoings. As Barr said, “the real story here from the FBI’s perspective is what an abomination this was. It wasn’t a witch hunt, it’s a damn good imitation of one.” It simply goes to show how deep political corruption can go.
Trump, however, deserves to be lauded for how much he was able to achieve in spite of the grave injustice done to him and his campaign. From one of the strongest-ever economic periods to having appointed three Supreme Court Justices – he managed to steer his presidency in a positive direction, and it is nothing short of admirable.
It is clear that this administration will be remembered for its ability to push through despite vicious persecution and unwarranted targeting by the media. The Democratic-led FBI’s attempt to sabotage a potential leader of the GOP can only be described as a desperate, false narrative.
We can only hope that the Durham report helps to bring justice to the corrupt machinery of bigotry and subterfuge that sought to erase a potential victory in the 2020 elections. Trump has certainly left his mark on the United States and our views on political power, and a big victory for the GOP could help restore integrity and trust in our government.
