Video Captures Shocking Moment Homeowner Gets Run Over by Thieves

Eric Smith, a homeowner from Washington, shared a shocking story on Fox News about his encounter with two thieves who attempted to break into his car on April 3. Smith, who was a guest on the show “The Ingraham Angle”, was asked by host Laura Ingraham why he confronted the thieves over his car.

Smith explained that he had a mindset that he didn’t want to be a victim. He was aware of the growing issue of criminal activity in the area and didn’t want to become another statistic. When he saw his truck door open, he was determined that it was not going to happen to him.

On the home security camera footage, a red car can be seen waiting in the street while one of the thieves is inside Smith’s truck. As soon as Smith appears in the frame, the driver of the red car attempts to get away. However, Smith grabs onto the thief before he can enter the car. The second thief struggles to get away, but Smith holds onto them. The driver then accelerates, forcing Smith onto the hood of the car as they hit the truck.

Smith revealed that as soon as he had the first thief in his grasp, he knew he was young from his voice and build. He intended to hang on and call the police, but things changed when the driver reversed and tried to intervene. Fortunately, Smith landed safely off the car and pulled out his phone to record the license plate and the thieves’ faces.

According to a report from the state’s criminal justice data, the violent crime rate in Washington has been increasing since 2019, with a 26% jump. The same report showed that there were over 261,000 property index crime incidents reported in 2022, making it the state with the highest property crime rate in the region and the 2nd highest in the country.
