Actor and singer Zachary Levi took to Instagram to give a powerful message to “closeted” conservatives in Hollywood, urging them to not hold back their support for Republican nominee Donald Trump. His message comes in response to a segment on “The View” where co-host Whoopi Goldberg claimed that Hollywood is not as liberal as people think, citing actors like Jon Voight and Dennis Quaid as examples of “working Republicans in the industry.”
Levi, who has been open about his own conservative views, argued that many in Hollywood are afraid to publicly express their support for Trump due to the potential backlash. However, he reminded them that with the current state of the entertainment industry, it is “now or never” for them to speak out.
“There’s plenty of people in my industry that are terrified to publicly say that they would vote for Donald Trump or be conservative in any way. But our industry is going to be gonzo soon, so don’t let that hold you back,” Levi said in an Instagram story.
The “Shazam!” actor also pointed out that in the past, there may have been more political balance in Hollywood, but nowadays, one has to be at a certain level in their career to express any conservative views.
“To Whoopi’s point, back in the day there may have been more of a balance. But now, you really have to be at a certain level of your career to get away with it. And I think that speaks volumes,” Levi added.
Levi, who grew up in a Christian conservative family, also spoke about how his upbringing taught him to have a “healthy level of distrust for the government” and the “industry that runs amok.” This is why he has no qualms about openly supporting Trump and speaking out against the liberal media.
It is no secret that Hollywood is predominantly liberal, and anyone who goes against that narrative faces consequences. But with the current state of the industry, where the pandemic and strikes have already taken a toll, Levi argues that there is nothing left to lose for those in the industry who hold conservative beliefs.
Levi’s endorsement of Trump at a recent rally in Michigan, along with his introduction of former presidential candidates Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard, shows that he is not afraid to speak his mind and stand up for what he believes in.
Levi’s message to Hollywood conservatives is a strong call to action to not be afraid of the repercussions of expressing their political views. With the support of prominent figures like him, it is time for the closeted conservatives in Hollywood to come out and show their support for Trump and against the liberal media and agenda. It is time to make their voices heard, and it is now or never.
