House Speaker Mike Johnson appeared on Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo to discuss the monumental passage of the House spending bill, a critical step in advancing President Donald Trump’s America First agenda. Since Trump’s triumphant return to the White House nearly three months ago, the Republican-led House has been working tirelessly to deliver on their promises to the American people—strengthening the nation, securing its borders, and reviving economic prosperity.
“It was a big milestone,” Johnson declared, emphasizing the significance of the bill’s passage just before Congress recessed for Easter. “We have had a number of those, as you noted—this is our 100th day of the 119th Congress—and we’ve been very busy delivering on the promises we made to the American people to help President Trump make America stronger, and safer, and more prosperous again.”
Unlike the liberal media, which has downplayed this achievement, Johnson highlighted how the legislation fulfills key campaign promises. “In this bill, we are going to submit so many of the promises we made on the campaign trail and check so many of the boxes of the America First agenda,” he said. Despite predictable opposition from Democrats and two Republican dissenters, the bill represents a year of rigorous negotiation and conservative policymaking. “There has been a lot of deliberate negotiation, a lot of hard work done for more than a year, Maria, to get to this point. We started this process in March of last year,” Johnson explained.
Fiscal Responsibility vs. Liberal Excess
One of the most pressing issues addressed in the bill is the ever-growing national debt, which Johnson rightly identified as a grave threat to national security. “The national debt is probably the greatest single threat to our national security right now,” he warned. While the left continues to push reckless spending, Trump and House Republicans are committed to cutting waste without sacrificing essential programs. “The President has made absolutely clear many times—as we have as well—that we are gonna protect Medicare, Social Security, and Medicaid for people who are legally beneficiaries of those programs,” Johnson assured.
The Speaker also took aim at bloated government overreach, a hallmark of the Biden era. “We have lots of categories of areas where the government is too large and does too many things, and the DOGE efforts and others have highlighted that for the American people,” he said. Unlike the liberal media’s fearmongering, this bill isn’t about slashing benefits—it’s about making government more efficient. “We are gonna make government work better for the people in this legislation, in addition to checking all those boxes I mentioned earlier,” Johnson affirmed.
Bartiromo: “Walk us through the passing of that budget on Friday before you all left for the Easter recess. Where does that put you now? What is the work to happen once you come back?”

It’s worth mentioning that DOGE plays a critical role in illuminating waste and abuse. The fact that the corrupt elite are losing their minds over DOGE’s work speaks volumes.
