It’s no secret, this guy is a weirdo. Democratic Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman has been seen recently donning a large mask of fellow Democratic senator Bob Casey while mocking the impending impeachment inquiry against Biden. This costume isn’t just strange – it is an affront to the seriousness of the situation. Instead of addressing the inquiry head-on, Fetterman is attempting to trivialize it as “cheap thrills” and “devastating.”
Fetterman received pushback from a Twitter user in the form of a meme, comparing his Casey mask to Michael Scott’s mask from “The Office.” He sarcastically responded, but did not articulate any considered stance on the issue.
Perhaps John Fetterman’s Bob Casey head mask is based on his being a big fan on The Office 🤔#PutThatInYourPipe @PatUnleashed pic.twitter.com/iFwniTnBCu

“It’s just a political loser,” Fetterman said regarding the impeachment inquiry. While the incoming inquiry certainly holds immense political implications, this is an understatement of the seriousness of current political turmoil. Fetterman is trivializing and belittling an important issue by reducing it to a political danger sign.
It’s true that Fetterman experienced some verbal hiccups after his stroke in 2022, and spent a short time in Walter Reed National Military Medical Center for depression in 2023. However, this health history does not excuse Fetterman’s inability to properly respond to grave political issues.
By dressing up in a costume and mumbling his response to a serious inquiry, Fetterman is displaying a lack of respect for the political process. The Senator is taking what should be a conversation about consequences and policy into a realm of judgment and frivolity. His choice to don a mask of another Democratic Senator is also concerning. What kind of message is Fetterman trying to send by covering his own face while holding up a likeness of Casey?
The impeachment inquiry against Biden will not only have consequences for the sitting President, but for the entire political system. While Fetterman is, of course, free to form his own opinions on the inquiry, his approach of trivializing and insulting it is dangerous and irresponsible. His words and costume choices may come across as fun or entertaining, but in reality, they are disrespectful and unbecoming of a senior member of the United States Senate.
