What? Fetterman Fumbles His Way Through Word Salad During Disaster Hearing

Democratic Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman may not be the right person for the job, as he bumbled his way through a Senate hearing on the catastrophic I-95 bridge collapse in Philadelphia.

Video of the hearing showed Fetterman stumbling and slurring his words when Democratic Delaware Sen. Tom Carper gave him a chance to comment on the collapse. At one point, he mispronounced the word “artery.”

“I, uh, would just, um, really like to, you know — the 95, 95, 95. You know?” Fetterman said during the hearing.

Fetterman’s fitness for office had already been called into question after he suffered a stroke during his Senate run and subsequently suffered from clinical depression. Even his first hearing speech and his questioning of former Silicon Valley Bank CEO Greg Becker in May showed a lack of preparedness and seemed to require extra focus for the Pennsylvania senator to get through.

It is understandable why the senator’s health would become a cause for concern, but his responses at the hearing cast further doubt about his capabilities in office.

“Obviously, you know, you’re pretty much preoccupied with the 95, and I certainly am too and we know it’s a major [artery] not just for Pennsylvania, but for the East Coast,” Fetterman said sternly.

The I-95 highway is an incredibly important artery for the entire East Coast, and to have someone like Fetterman in charge of making decisions surrounding the roadway’s safety and repair is concerning.

It is important that the people of Pennsylvania and the East Coast trust their representatives to make sound decisions, and that trust has been put in doubt due to Fetterman’s missteps.

“This attempt to handle a situation as important as the I-95 bridge collapse with the same name-stumbling Fetterman had during his campaign shows that he is not the right person for the job,” said RNC Research on Twitter.

Watch

The Pennsylvania senator’s consistent missteps and lack of preparedness make it clear that he is not ready to take on the responsibility of properly handling crucial matters such as this. It is important that the right steps are taken to ensure the safety and proper repair of the I-95. The future of the East Coast depends on it.
