Andrew Tate and Tristan Tate were arrested Saturday in Miami by U.S. Marshals, according to reports from the Associated Press and TMZ. The arrests mark another major turn in the long-running legal fight surrounding the brothers, who are dual British and U.S. citizens.
The brothers are wanted in the United Kingdom in connection with rape and human trafficking allegations. British prosecutors said Saturday night that they are seeking to extradite the pair after their arrest in the United States.
The Crown Prosecution Service said, “The Crown Prosecution Service has decided to bring additional charges against brothers Andrew and Tristan Tate. Following their arrest, prosecutors will seek extradition in relation to the original charges and the further charges we have authorised.”

The Associated Press reported that a warrant connected to the case was sealed. That means many details about the legal basis for the arrest were not immediately public. Video published by TMZ showed the moment federal agents took the Tate brothers into custody outside the James L. Knight Center in downtown Miami. Andrew Tate had reportedly been set to cohost IBA Bareknuckle 6, a bare-knuckle boxing event scheduled at the venue, before the arrest happened.
The Miami arrest adds to years of legal trouble for the brothers. In December 2022, Andrew and Tristan Tate were detained in Romania in a case involving allegations of sex trafficking. Romanian outlet Libertatea reported at the time that police surrounded the villa where the brothers were staying and arrested them on charges that included kidnapping, international human trafficking, and rape.
The brothers spent several months in a Romanian prison in early 2023 as that case drew international attention. Andrew Tate, a former kickboxer turned online influencer, has built a massive audience online while also becoming one of the most controversial figures on the internet.
The next key question is whether U.S. authorities will turn the brothers over to the United Kingdom. British prosecutors have made clear that they want extradition tied to both the original allegations and the additional charges they say have now been authorized.
