Three Clancy Jurors Attack Lone Male Holdout After Mistrial Is Declared (VIDEO)
Three jurors in the Lindsay Clancy murder case have spoken publicly after a judge declared a mistrial.
Clancy strangled her three children in January 2023. Cora, 5, Callan, 8 months, and Dawson, 3, were found dead in the basement of the family’s home in Clancy, Massachusetts.
Clancy admitted to killing her children. Her defense team argued that she should not be found guilty because of insanity. The defense said she was suffering from severe postpartum psychosis and heard voices ordering her to kill the children.
Prosecutors presented a very different version of events. They argued that Clancy acted with deliberate premeditation. They also said she sent her husband out on an errand while she murdered the children.
The jury had five possible verdicts to consider: first-degree murder, second-degree murder, manslaughter, not guilty, or not guilty due to a lack of criminal responsibility.
According to the report, 11 jurors were prepared to find Clancy not guilty by reason of insanity. One male juror refused to agree. That deadlock led to the mistrial.
Last Friday, the judge declared a mistrial after a tense courtroom confrontation involving Clancy’s defense attorney, Kevin Reddington. Reddington accused the lone holdout of lying under oath about the reasonable-doubt standard.
On Tuesday, three jurors spoke with NBC’s Sue O’Connell. Their comments were sharply critical of the juror who would not change his position.
“He was very arrogant! He literally did not take anything that anybody said…” one juror said.
Another juror said, “He had reasonable doubt! He admitted he had reasonable doubt after we watched that video of the interview… and started filling out the forms, I was so excited!”
A third juror described the holdout as isolated during discussions over the evidence.
“I’m not sure if rogue is the right word, but we would all walk around the room and we’d all go to the cart with the exhibits — I think he got up to the cart once very briefly and he went back to his seat,” the juror said.
The juror then pointed to what appeared to be the central disagreement.
“But he had the hardest time getting off the fact that Lindsay viciously killed her children!” the juror said.
